William Raymond Dommerson (1859-1927) Near Maastricht on the Maas, Holland. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right.
William Raymond Dommersen (1859-1927) was an English painter celebrated for his delicate land- and seascapes, as well as charming village and town scenes, often set along canals and rivers. Born in Stratford, London, he was the son of Dutch-born artist Pieter Cornelis Dommersen and continued the family's artistic legacy.
Dommersen travelled across Europe-painting in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy-with works featuring Venetian canals, English river scenes, and Dutch villages. His gentle compositions reflect a 17th-century Dutch landscape tradition and remain popular in UK galleries and private collections.
