A rare pair of Arnold Machin Taurus bulls in cream and black for Wedgwood circa 1950.

Arnold Machin designed the bull in the mid‑20th‑century ceramic figures for the English pottery firm Wedgwood. The most celebrated is 'Taurus the Bull', a stylised creamware sculpture modelled by Machin around the 1940s and decorated with zodiac motifs using transfer printing - a process that made the design accessible and modern for its time.

It became popular in British decorative arts and was exhibited in postwar design shows, reflecting a shift toward contemporary ceramic art. Rarer variations include the black and gold version.

These bulls remain collectible examples of Wedgwood's blend of traditional craftsmanship and 20th‑century design innovation.
