A remarkable World War I trench-art mantel clock, fashioned from the centre section of a laminated eight-ply mahogany aircraft propeller and dated to the reverse, 5 February 1918. Combining skilled craftsmanship, aviation history, and the personal ingenuity associated with trench art, it is an especially evocative survival from the final year of the Great War.
The warm mahogany propeller hub has been carefully adapted to form the clock case, preserving the bold laminated construction and unmistakable sculptural character of the original aeronautical component.
